A SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR BEING IN POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT CFA CURRENCY IN HAJJ CAMP, MINNA

On the 18th of May, 2025 at about 11:45am, based on credible information received indicated that a syndicate which specialises in selling alleged counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims, and one of their suspected member was sighted in Hajj Camp Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Minna

Police operatives attached to Bosso Div swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested one Nda Baba Mohammed, 27yrs of Agaie LGA who was found in possession of forty thousand Francs CFA suspected to be counterfeit currency.

In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed that he stole the said currencies from the house of one Mohammed of Kwara State, during the period he went to carry out farming activities for him.

The suspect is in custody and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain the origin of the said currencies, after which he will be charged to court for prosecution accordingly.

(2) A SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH LOCALLY FABRICATED PISTOL IN MINNA

Similarly on 20th May, 2025 at approximately 11:50am, Operation flush patrol team led by Patrol and Guard officer of Bosso Div, while on routine stop and search at Imrat Junction, Bosso intercepted a tricycle conveying three persons from Kure market heading to Maikunkele.

The passengers were subjected to a search and in the process, one locally fabricated pistol loaded with one ammunition of 7.62mm, one charm jacket, other charms, one knife, and a cash sum of one hundred and forty-one thousand naira were recovered from one Shehu Adamu of Gusasse village, Maikunkele.

The suspect, who wore four layers of shirts to conceal the charm jacket, claimed that the jacket is for his protection to disappear during danger, and that he inherited the pistol from his late father and he claimed to be using it for vigilante job. He said that he was coming from Kutigi to visit his mother in Maikunkele and the money found in his possession was meant for farming. However, he is in custody for further investigation.

(3) A SUSPECTED MOTORCYCLE SNATCHER RESCUED AND ARRESTED/RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTORCYCLE 

On the same 20th May, 2025 at about 5:30pm, a distress call was received from General Hospital area, Minna that  a mob almost lynched a suspected motorcycle thief within the area, and Police patrol team of 'A' Div Minna rushed to the scene, rescued and arrested one suspect named Basiru Abubakar 35yrs of Sokoto State.

In the course of investigation, it was revealed that the suspect belonged to a syndicate of motorcycle snatchers, and that he was with one other, presently at large. Both of them boarded a motorcycle from Kure market to a location, they stopped the rider along the way on the pretence that one of them wanted to see somebody. Basiru and the rider were waiting, then the suspect gave the motorcyclist a candy, which he licked, became dizzy and weak and the suspect took the motorcycle away.

Fortunately, a witness who observed the whole situation suspected foul play, and followed the suspect to a location around General hospital before he raised an alarm. Case is under investigation and the suspect will be charged to court in due course.
