IZUNASO, A PATHWAY TO NIGERIA'S LARGEST GAS DEPOSIT

For those who are still in doubt about the capacity and humble achievements of Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso, within Imo West Senatorial District, Imo State and by extention, the Southeast in general; well, sorry to disappoint you, as there will be no point trying to impress anybody by running from pillar-to-post in search of evidence.

Those who are seriously curious and very inquisitive, should just take a deep breath, take a glass of water and reach out to trending news, currently making wave across the media space, about a gas plant which newly commenced operations at Assah Community in Imo State, South East Nigeria.

After getting the jist, then they can go further in their search to find out who actually discovered the location of this largest gas deposit, which has been estimated to be over 210 Trillion Cubic Feets of gas reserves.

Kpakpando Orlu, the Capacity Senator, Legislative Field Marshal of 10th National Assembly, no be guy name, he is the man behind the scene! The no noise, humble instrument behind the discovery of the largest gas deposit in Africa, during his first Missionary journey to the National Assembly; "ju kwa ese!"

Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso's moves at discovering the largest Gas Deposit in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, commenced during his first missionary journey to the Senate at the 6th National Assembly, between 2007 -2011, when providence through the Senate leadership bestowed on him, the Chairman, Committee on Oil and Gas. 

At that time, South East Nigeria was not captured among gas-producing regions and no State from the Zone was included in the National Gas Masterplan.

Worried that an oil producing area as Imo was not in the National Gas Masterplan, Distinguished Senator Izunaso, the then Chairman Senate Committee on Oil and Gas, decided to embarked on consultations, deep research, and technical findings, through independent investigations, to run a survey, to determine the level of hydrocarbon deposit across the oil-producing communities within his primarily constituency in Imo State, extending same to the entire South East. 

The adventure which started like "Tales by Moonlight" metamorphosed into unprecedented, mind blowing eye-opening sparks, which eventually gave birth to the discovery of what is known today as the largest Gas Deposit in Nigeria; capturing Imo and the whole of the South East among the Committee of States in the Nigeria National Gas Masterplan, which eventually also attracted the gas project that is now sited in Imo State.

At that time, the Federal Government was involved in gas franchise, during which, Senator Izunaso through one of his tactical master strokes, also attracted a gas franchise, worth about 700 million dollars to Ohaji/Egbema area.

Elaborate mention about the discovery expeditions which gulped millions and billions of Naira, with involvement of highly placed individuals, revered institutions and multinational companies, shall be a story for another day, which the SOI-media shall capture in its future publications.

Meanwhile, it was discovered that Imo State has enormous gas reserve, bigger than any other, located anywhere in Nigeria.

Therefore, it will not be out of place to say Super Congratulations to Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso, OFR, on the successful completion of ANOH Gas Plant, Assah, Imo State, housing the largest gas plant in Africa, which commenced operations with the initial production capacity of about 850Million Standard Cubic feet of gas, daily. 

Thank God for keeping you alive, to witness the full manifestation of one of your humble inputs in Imo State, the Southeast and Nigeria in general.
