Nigerian Hamburg community in Germany has welcomed with great relief the reported release of the teachers and pupils who were abducted in Oyo State 56 weeks ago, describing the development as a moment of hope for the affected families and the nation.
Reacting to the news, a group of Nigerians in Germany expressed profound gratitude to all security personnel, government agencies, local communities, and individuals whose efforts contributed immensely to securing the victims' freedom. They also commended the resilience and perceivierance demonstrated by the victims and their families throughout the traumatic ordeal.
While celebrating the release, the community emphasized that the incident once again highlights the urgent need for stronger security measures to protect schools, students, teachers, and vulnerable communities across Nigeria. They called on the Federal and State Governments to intensify efforts aimed at preventing future kidnappings and ensuring that educational institutions remain safe environments for learning.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Comrade Linda Onyesoh stated:
"We are deeply relieved by the safe release of the abducted teachers and pupils, our thoughts remain with every family that has endured the excruciating painful experience. We commend everyone who played a role in achieving the unprecedented outcome and urge the authorities to strengthen measures that will prevent future incidents from recurring. Every Nigerian child, every School and every teacher deserves to feel safe in Nigeria."
The Nigerian Community in Germany reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Oyo State and all the areas affected by insecurity across Nigeria, reiterating their commitment to supporting initiatives that will promote peace, security, quality education, and national development.
The community also encouraged Nigerians at home and abroad to continue praying for lasting peace and to support efforts that can foster unity, justice, and the protection of lives and property. END
