IGP, REPRESENTED BY AIG ZONE 7, COMMISSIONS TWO MODERN DIVISIONAL HEADQUARTERS IN THE FCT
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, Tuesday, 30th June, 2026, commissioned two newly constructed modern divisional headquarters located at Durumi and Galadimawa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The Inspector-General was represented at the ceremonies by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+).
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police at the commissioning ceremonies, AIG Victor Olaiya said, “Today marks another significant milestone in our collective commitment to strengthening policing infrastructure and enhancing the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to effectively serve the good people of the Federal Capital Territory.” He noted that the commissioning of the modern divisional headquarters reflects the Force’s unwavering resolve to provide a conducive working environment for officers and men, while also ensuring improved service delivery, professionalism, and operational efficiency.
He further stated that a well-equipped police facility is essential to effective policing, prompt response to emergencies, and the protection of lives and property. According to him, the new divisional headquarters at Durumi and Galadimawa will support intelligence-led operations, strengthen community policing, and improve interaction between the police and members of the public.
The Inspector-General, through his representative, expressed profound appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force Property Development and Construction Company Limited, the project developers, Odernix Nigeria Limited, Anon Global Properties Nigeria Limited and all partners whose collaborative efforts made the successful completion of the edifices possible. He also commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration, traditional institutions, community leaders, residents of Durumi and Galadimawa, and other stakeholders for their continuous cooperation and support towards promoting peace and security within the communities.
AIG Olaiya urged officers and men posted to the facilities to regard the buildings not merely as workplaces but as symbols of public trust and confidence. He charged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity, respect for human rights, and unwavering commitment to community-oriented policing, stressing that the quality of policing is ultimately measured not by the beauty of buildings but by the excellence of service to the people.
He also encouraged members of the public to continue partnering with the Nigeria Police Force by providing timely and credible information that will assist in preventing crime and ensuring a safer society. He reiterated that security remains a shared responsibility and that peace, justice, and development can only thrive through sustained collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
The IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership to modernizing policing infrastructure, improving officers’ welfare, embracing technology-driven policing, and sustaining strategic partnerships that enhance public safety across the nation.
The events were attended by senior police officers, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, representatives of partner organizations, and other distinguished guests who commended the Inspector-General’s vision for modernizing police infrastructure across the country.
The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its resolve to continue strengthening its operational capacity through strategic infrastructure development while fostering stronger partnerships with communities in ensuring a safer and more secure Nigeria.
