German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has reaffirmed the country's commitment to the fight against Insurgence supporting Nigeria on security as it ​battles militant groups, and said violence in the Sahel ‌threatened all coastal States in the region.

Mr Wadephul mentioned k said Germany would provide 10m Euros this year to support Nigeria's return and ​reintegration of displaced persons from the once Boko Haram and Islamic state-linked militant controlled communities.

He made the remark in Abuja, on his first visit to Nigeria, shortly after discussions with ​Nigeria's Foreign Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; describing Nigeria as a key strategic ​partner to Germany; citing its role as West ​Africa's ⁠largest economy and a leading political force within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Johann Wadephul also said, the bilateral trade between both countries have grown to about 10% ⁠in year 2025, with Nigeria remaining Germany's second-largest ​trading partner in Africa, with over 100 Company's presence in the country.

Responding, Nigeria's Minister Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu said, the country for a long time has being in the foer-front in the ‌fight ⁠against terrorism and violent extremism, saying that sustained international partnerships are very essential to addressing terrorism, violent extremism, transnational organised crime and other security threats facing West Africa.

Part of the talks between the two ministers during the visit include discussions on expanding ​economic ties between ⁠both countries. END
