The Executive Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma on Thursday 1 July, 2021 provided succour   to the families of officers and Soldiers of the Brigade who paid the supreme price in the course of discharging their duties in the State.




The Governor who paid a solidarity visit to the families and next of Kins of the officers and soldiers of 34 Artillery Brigade Nigerian Army Obinze, who lost their lives during the attacks by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Speaking during the visit, Gov  Uzodimma commended the Commander, officers and men of the 34 Artillery Brigade for their sacrifices in ensuring an emerging peace in the state. He stated that without the intervention of the Military, there would have been a continued catastrophic tension in the State. The Governor who said that Imo has always been a peace loving and hospitable State in the country wondered why members of the proscribed group failed to listen to the voice of reason by resorting to violence.

Governor Uzodimma prayed for the departed souls to continue rest in peace. He concluded by describing them as National heroes who laid their lives for the peace of the State and the Nation. He promised that Imo State government will do all within its powers to support the families of the fallen heroes.


In his remarks the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General RT Utsaha who welcomed the Governor and expressed his gratitude on the visit to the Brigade described the Governor's visit which coincided with activities marking the 2021 Nigerian Army Day Celebration as very timely. He also said that the visit will serve as a morale booster and encouragement to other serving officers and men of the Nigerian Army. 

The Commander further appreciated the efforts of Governor Uzodimma in bringing succour to the families of the late officers and men of the Brigade. He encouraged them not to lose hope and assured them that they would not be abandoned by the Nigerian Army.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of Cheques to families of the departed officer and soldiers. □ End
