An investigatorsnews Report says, 13 Policemen and 3 yet to be identified persons loss their lives on Sunday July 18, attack by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Kurar Mota community, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State.

According to the report, the bandits who earlier attempted to invade Magami, a community near Gusau the State Capital, were repelled by security operatives; they moved and reportedly killed one person, burnt down 4 stores along Magami– Dangulbi road.

The Bandits later got to Kurar Mota and opened fire on Police Operatives on duty. Some of the officers were ridden with serious bullet wounds and rushed to Gusau where 13 of them were confirmed dead.

ZAMFARA POLICE COMMAND INTENSIFIES ITS ANTI - BANDITRY OPERATIONS, LAUNCHES SERIOUS MANHUNT,

AS BANDITS AMBUSHED POLICE OPERATIVES WHILE RESPONDING TO DISTRESS CALL IN AN ATTEMPT TO ATTACK NEARBY COMMUNITIES, 13  PERSONNEL PAID THE SUPREME PRICE, 

WHILE BANDITS ON THEIR PART SUFFERED HEAVY CASUALTIES. 

The Zamfara State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment and determination to sustain its ongoing operations against the activities of recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements in the State. The command also launched a manhunt against  armed bandits that ambushed Police operatives in Kurar Mota village of Bungudu LGA.

 The attack occurred on Sunday at about 1230hrs, when Police Mobile operatives deployed at Kurar Mota village in Bungudu LGA were responding to a distress call with regards to an attempt by  bandits to attack some nearby communities. 

The personnel who ran into the ambush exhibited resilience and gallantry by engaging the hoodlums, an effort that deterred the bandits from attacking the communities. Unfortunately, 13 personnel paid the supreme price. However, the bandits on their part suffered heavy casualties. 

A special Anti - Banditry Operations is currently ongoing with a view to track down the assailants. The Commissioner of Police CP Hussaini Rabiu psc, while visiting the injured Police men at the hospital reaffirmed that, today's unfortunate incident will not discourage the officers and men of the command from discharging their mandate of protecting  lives and properties of the citizens. 

He called on every law abiding citizen to join hands with the security agencies to successfully end the menace.
