Mixed reactions have trailed President Buhari's nomination of his social media aide Loretta Onochie as INEC Commissioner. This is coming from members of the Civil Society Organizations who faulted President Mahammadu Buhari for having gone contrary to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria by nominating a card carrying member of a political party for such delicate national assignment that requires neutrality.

Loretta Onochie's name was submitted on 13th Oct 2020 as revealed through a letter as read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan for confirmation as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing Delta State.

The nomination and consequent mixed reactions are coming amidst the ongoing #ENDFSARS protests across the country, which many believe is not a healthy development for sustainable democratic development in Nigeria.
