Emefiele's Arrest: Senate President Aspirants in Panic.

...Talibabaa >Abuja<

The arrest of the suspended central bank governor Godwin Emefiele by the DSS has further caused tension, panic and commotion among some of the senators-elect, who are currently facing one corruption charge or the other by the country's antigraft agencies, as they fear that the agencies may grab them before June 13 inauguration.

Some of the Senators close to the aspirants who spoke to our reporter under the condition of anonymity disclosed that fear has gripped some of their colleagues who are gunning for the seat of the Senate President since after the announcement of the arrest of the "powerful" Emefiele, saying that the concerned aspirants have resorted to beefing up their personal securities and high powered political consultations to possibly avert what they suspected might befall them any moment from now.

Recall, that one of the concerned aspirants systematically presented his emotional plea at the Red Chambers, during the validatory session, when he openly wept and shouted "I am not a thief".

Meanwhile another aspirant, former governor of Akwa-Ihom State, has not been seen or heard in the public space since after the arrest of Emefiele few days ago; the action, which observers view, suggested that the former NDDC boss may have gone into hiding to save himself the impending embarrassment of being whisked away for investigations.

Meanwhile, our reporters who have been strategically positioned to give regular updates on the on going last battle for the seat of the Senate President gathered that, there has been a revolution of sort among the Senators-elect. Majority of them both in APC and opposition party have vowed to elect only the best candidate among the aspirants.

Those who spoke to investigatorsnews disclosed that next leadership of the Red Chambers shall be personalities of impeccable characters, who are clean, with competence, experience and capacity and without baggages of pending litigations and most importantly must be free from corruption charges, so as to actualize the rebranded National Assembly of their dream. Senator Osita Izunaso appears to be the only man that fits into their critical description, with capacity to lead the 10th Assembly as Senate President.
