The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, has decorated seventy-four (74) Inspectors of Police who were recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II).
The decoration ceremony, held at the Zone 7 Headquarters, was attended by Senior police officers, Families of the promotees, and other distinguished guests. The event formed part of activities aimed at recognizing excellence, dedication and outstanding service within the Nigeria Police Force.
The promotions followed the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police IGP OluKayode Egbetokun Phd, NPM and subsequent approval by the Police Service Commission, in line with the ongoing reforms and commitment to rewarding hard work and professionalism in the Force.
As part of the programme, a General Lecture session was also held where selected personnel delivered presentations on critical topics including effective communication skills, social media policy, public relations, extortion, assault and unlawful detention. The lectures were aimed at reinforcing professionalism, ethical conduct and respect for citizens’ rights in the discharge of police duties.
In his address, AIG Victor Olaiya congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to see their elevation in rank as a call to greater responsibility, discipline and service to the nation. Summing up the lecture session, the AIG admonished all officers, stressing that misconduct such as extortion, assault, and unlawful detention will not be tolerated under any circumstance. He made it clear that any officer found wanting would face severe disciplinary action in accordance with the law and the regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
Responding on behalf of the promotees, one of the newly decorated ASPs, ASP Mordy Kennedy expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission, and the AIG for the recognition.
