Amidst growing concerns about the welfare of pensioners, in a country where pensioners carry placards at all levels of government, in protest of total neglect and the way their affairs are being handled, the Pensioners of one local government in the Southeast Nigeria, against all odds, haven weighed how well their issues are being handled by the Local Government Boss, decided to thank and appreciate him accordingly in a very special way, for his kind gesture and magnanimity towards them.

HON. JUSTICE NZE HONOURED BY PENSIONERS IN IKEDURU LGA
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ikeduru Local Government Branch, on Thursday, October 17, 2025, celebrated its Pensioners’ Day at the council headquarters in Iho, where the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Hon. Justice Nze, was honoured with a Merit Award as a “Good Friend of Pensioners.”
The award was presented by the Union’s leadership, led by Comr. Chris Abiaka (Chairman) and Comr. Agunanze Albert I. (Secretary), in recognition of Hon. Nze’s consistent support, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of retired workers across the local government.
During the event, Elder Simeon Anyaegbu, a pensioner from Abazu Autonomous Community, Akabo, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, and the LGA Chairman, for introducing the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, which he testified to have personally benefited from.
In his remarks, Hon. Justice Nze appreciated the pensioners for their years of service and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing their welfare and dignity. He also extended a gesture of goodwill to support the union’s activities.
The event ended on a cheerful note as pensioners commended the LGA Chairman and the state government for their continued concern for senior citizens’ well-being.
