AIG VICTOR OLAIYA COMMENDS NIGER STATE POLICE COMMAND, URGES OFFICERS TO UPHOLD PROFESSIONALISM AND DISCIPLINE

…charges police personnel to always prioritize their personal safety while discharging their duties. 

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has commended the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, and his officers for their relentless efforts in maintaining peace and security across the state.

Speaking during his familiarization visit to the Niger State Police Command, the AIG expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere in the state, attributing it to the dedication and professionalism of the officers and men of the command. He also extended appreciation to the Niger State Government for its continued support to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in enhancing the operational capacity of the command.

In his address to the officers, AIG Olaiya emphasized the need for strict enforcement of laws governing the use of tinted vehicle permits, stressing that while enforcement remains non-negotiable, officers must not use it as a tool for extortion or intimidation of citizens.

He further charged police personnel to always prioritize their personal safety while discharging their duties, noting that an officer must be alive and well to effectively protect lives and property.

The AIG also conveyed the assurances of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, that the Force leadership remains committed to improving the welfare of police officers nationwide. He reiterated that ongoing welfare reforms are aimed at ensuring officers receive the best support and motivation to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

AIG Olaiya underscored that discipline remains the bedrock of policing and urged officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. He called for collective efforts in combating crime and ensuring the safety of all citizens, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.

He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Zone 7 Headquarters to supporting commands under its supervision in achieving the core mandate of the Nigeria Police Force which are the protection of lives and property.
