Members of Kpakpando Foundation, (a non-Governmental Organisation with special interest in the welfare of Persons Living With Disability) seem to have kick started their festive season celebrations on a very high note, with a special honour and recognition, bestowed on the Founder, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the organisation, Senator Osita Izunaso, by the United States President, Joe Biden, in a colourful event which took place on Friday December 15, 2023, in Abuja.

In their separate remarks at the epoch making event, representatives of Equal Rights for Persons with Disability group, organisers of the Award, Dr Joe and Ms Omotunde Ellen Thompson said, they have come with good tidings from President Joe Biden to Senator Osita Izunaso and to specially appreciate Kpakpando Foundation, for their relentless effort and contributions to the service of humanity.

They eulogised the untiring efforts by Kpakpando Foundation as an organisation and the enormous, human, material and financial resources being expended by Senator Osita Izunaso in bringing hope, succor and smiles on the faces of the Persons Living with Disability.

Responding, Distinguished Senator Izunaso who was evidently highly elated and overwhelmed with excitement said, it's been over 18years of selfless humanitarian service to the community of Special Persons by himself and Kpakpando Foundation, saying that he had earlier received similar Award and special recognition by former President Trump in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

The Distinguished Senator Izunaso, who is member, representing Imo West at the Red Chambers and Chairman Senate Committee on Capital Market, thanked President Biden for the special honour bestowed on him, promising that he and Kpakpando Foundation shall continue to do their best in alleviating the suffering and challenges of the PLWDs and the less privileged in the society.

On her part, Director General of the Foundation Hon. Mrs Pat Oseh, thanked the organisers of the Award for finding Kpakpando Foundation worthy of the prestigious recognition, appreciating the dignitaries present for making out time from their very busy schedules to honour the event, saying that Kpakpando Foundation shall continue to up their contributions to the service of the vunerables and mankind.

Senator Izunaso also received Protector of Veterans Award from a Veteran group, the Foundation For The Support of Nigeria Veterans.

The event which attracted dignitaries from within and outside the country, featured special speeches eulogizing the efforts of the Award recipients. END
