2 Escape Death, as Petroleum Product Explodes 

A 33,000 litre haulage tanker, without registration number, fully loaded with petroleum product, was on November 15, 2022, at about 6:50am, involved in a road traffic crash around immigration junction along Awka-Enugu Expressway.


Preliminary investigations reveals that, the cause of the accident was attributed to speed. According to an eyewitness, the tanker who was on speed lost control while trying to negotiate at the junction, when the vehicle tumbled and went up in flames. 


The driver and another occupant of the haulage tanker managed to escape unhurt before the fire, which engulfed the tanker.



As at the time of filling this report, officials of the FRSC Anambra Command and men of the Fire Service respectively were on ground to condone the traffic and manage the fire.



The acting Sector Public Education Officer, FRSC Anambra Command, RC Margaret Onabe, who confirmed the incident said the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, warns motorists to be cautious when moving heavy duty haulage on the highway, urging tanker, lorry and long vehicle drivers to always observe recommended speed limits and desist from over speeding in order to get to their destinations safely, with their vehicles and products intact.■ END
