The joint National Burial Committee of the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe, comprising of leadership of the House of Representatives and the Senate has said arrangements are being concluded for commencement of funeral rites of the late parliamentarian, beginning with a Requem High Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama and Night of Tributes at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

In a Statement jointly signed by the Co-Chairmen of the National Burial Committee, Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso and the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu stated that, the Requem High Mass shall take place September 2, 2025 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, while Service of songs and Night of Tributes are expected to hold at the Nigeria's National Ecumenical Centre, beginning by 5pm.

According to the Committee, dignitaries across all facets of life in and outside Nigeria are expected to converge at the event to honour the late former Speaker, elder statesman.

The Committee further revealed the comprehensive arrangements as follows:-

-Thursday, 16th October, 2025, 2pm, Valedictory Session @Anambra State House of Assembly, Awka

-Thursday, 16th October, 2025, 4pm, Valedictory Session, Igwe-in-Council and Adazi-ani Town Union @Igwe's Palace Adazi-ani

-Thursday, 16th October, 2025, 5pm, Vigil Mass @Country Home, Adazi-ani
