CRIME BULLETIN
In furtherance of the Niger State Police Command's efforts under the leadership of CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips in tackling crime and criminality, and within the period under review, the following arrests and recoveries were made as thus:
RECOVERY OF FIFTY (50) ROUNDS OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT LIVE AMMUNITION.
Following the report received on 25th June, 2025 at about 9am that suspected bandits attacked Watari village via Rijau and its environs, rustled unconfirmed number of cattle, and the subsequent air bombardment from Sulupawa village via Rijau to Kumbashi and Kakihum areas of Mariga, which left the hoodlums in disarray with casualties.
During a follow-up assessment of the operation, the Police operatives of Rijau Div with vigilante members recovered fifty (50) rounds of anti-aircraft live ammunition abandoned by the bandits at Biyemu forest on 28th June, 2025 as a result of the bombardment.
However, further security assessment and investigation is ongoing with a view to fortify the area against reoccurrence, while tactical teams are still being maintained at strategic location s for security coverage.
(2) A TRUCK OF 900 BAGS OF CEMENT RECOVERED, SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR THEFT AND FRAUDULENT DIVERSION.
On 22nd June, 2025 around 2.30pm, a report was received at Gawu-Babangida Div that, on 21st June, 2025 at about 8am, a Howo truck with Reg. No. HJA 995 XA loaded about nine hundred bags of cement from Okpella to be delivered to a customer at Gwagwalada, Abuja.
It was further reported that on reaching Gwagwalada at about 6pm, the truck was parked by the road side to locate the customer, and while waiting for the customer, the driver entered a restaurant to eat, but before he returned, the vehicle was moved to an unknown destination.
The driver quickly reported to his manager and the vehicle was tracked to a location in Lambata axis. Upon the receipt of this, DPO Gawu-Babangida Div mobilised his patrol team to the area. Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered along Lambata-Lapai road with the cement, with the following suspects; Bashir Isah 22yrs, Ibrahim Yusuf 21yrs and Halidu Mohammed 28yrs all of Gbamita area of Lambata. Suspects confessed to the crime with the intention to sell the cement to another buyer. Case under investigation.
(3) TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR CONSPIRACY/THEFT OF TRUCK TYRES/EXHIBIT RECOVERED.
Similarly, on 22nd June 2025 at about 5.30am, based on information received, Police operatives of 'B' Div Suleja with community efforts arrested two suspects who are;
-Patrick Onuegbu 45yrs
-Ifeanyi Okechukwu 56yrs both of Madalla area, Suleja.
The suspects were arrested at Sandako area of Rafin-Sayin in Suleja, where the suspects were sighted around a truck vehicle parked along Rafin-Sayin-Madalla road making efforts to steal the spare tyre of the truck.
The suspects confessed that they were invited by one Ibrahim who is presently at large to come and buy the tyre. Patrick said that he usually buys such tyres from Ibrahim at the rate of forty thousand naira and he do sell at the rate of sixty thousand naira. They were arrested with a white bus bearing Reg. No. KJA 780 XE, one iron cutter, crates of malt and a truck tyre stolen. Suspects are under investigation in SCID Minna and they will be prosecuted after the investigation.
(4) TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR THEFT/RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY/TWO MOTORCYCLES RECOVERED.
On 26th June, 2025 at about 7.30pm Police operatives of the Command's Monitoring Unit arrested two suspects based on a direct complaint, namely;
-Shehu Sani a.k.a Karaye, 42yrs of Ogbomosho area, Minna
-Nafiu Kazeem 23yrs Kpaida, Minna
It was reported that about three motorcycles were stolen at different locations within Limawa, and Old Airport Quarters, Minna and Shehu Sani was strongly suspected as he was sighted with a motorcycle he took to a painter workshop to change the painting.
He was immediately arrested and a white jincheng motorcycle was recovered from him, while another motorcycle was recovered from Nafiu at his shop in Fadikpe which was also sold to him by Shehu Sani. The two suspects are under investigation with the Monitoring Unit.
(5) FIVE SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR THUGGERY, ARMED ROBBERY/STOLEN MOTORCYCLE, PHONES RECOVERED.
On 25th June 2025, at approximately 2am, based on credible information received, Police operatives of 'A' Div Minna carried out a sting operation around Tunga and its environs, and four miscreants were arrested, who are;
-Abdullahi Saidu 22yrs, arrested with a sharp knife
-Sulaiman Saidu 21yrs, arrested with 870 pieces of illicit tablets and some wraps of cannabis
-Jafar Mohammed 18yrs,
-Aliyu Bala 22yrs arrested with a sharp knife
Similarly, on 28th June 2025 one Nasiru Mohammed 20yrs was arrested with a motorcycle he stole at Sabon-Gari Quarters, Minna. The motorcycle was recovered with one handset and seventeen thousand naira, a proceed of crime. Investigation revealed that the suspect used a knife to attack the victim and robbed him of the motorcycle, cash of forty-eight thousand and two handsets.
(6) TWO OTHER SUSPECTS NABBED FOR KIDNAPPING, CULPABLE HOMICIDE AND ONE OTHER FOR THUGGERY, ARMED ROBBERY.
On 16th June, 2025 at about 5pm, Police operatives of Crack Squad and STS arrested three suspects;
-Sani Mohammed a.k.a Shawo 22yrs of Saminaka, Kaduna
-Abubakar Dahiru a.k.a Sirin-baye 20yrs of Gidan-Mangoro, Minna
-Idris Mohammed a.k.a Y.B 30yrs of Darulsalam, opposite Kure Market area, Minna.
It could be recalled that within the period of the year 2023, violent crime of kidnapping and culpable homicide were rampant around Beji, and parts of the suspects mentioned were Sirin-baye and Shawo responsible for these violent crimes, where a widow was kidnapped in Maikunkele and a ransom of eight million naira was paid.
Similarly, two brothers were also abducted in Beji and they requested for five million naira ransom, but received two million, two hundred thousand naira, while they released one and killed the other. The two suspects later fled to Kaba, Kogi and Zamfara States, until recently planning to regroup, with the intention to invite Yeli from Zamfara and Smally from Kogi State.
The suspects were further identified by another victim who paid a ransom of one million naira for his release. Both of them are still under investigation with a view to arrest other gang members. Idris Mohammed, a.k.a Y.B was arrested for being part of a gang who attacked and robbed victims in a mosque during morning prayers in Darulsalam area by river side.
He confessed to the crime that during fasting last year, himself with Yusuf, Usama, Hamza, Captain, Xsquad and one other were responsible for the act, while Xsquad was arrested and prosecuted. He is also under investigation with the team.
