NEXT SENATE PRESIDENT: East, West, North, South, Tip Osita Izunaso

Groups of different Political leanings, Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, Youth Advocates from various parts of the country, including some religious leaders (Christians and Muslims) stormed the Apo legislative Residence of Sen. Osita Izunaso in Abuja, Sat, 1st of  April, 2023, to according to them, endorse and encourage Sen. Izunaso in his journey to the seat of the Senate President, in the coming 10th Assembly.

Addressing the August visitors, the Senator elect, Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Izunaso charged them and other well meaning Nigerians to pray for the Peace, Unity and Tolerance in the ongoing transition period, while extending felicitations to all and sundry for the celebrations of the new month of April. 

Sen. Izunaso who addressed the gathering amidst selected newsmen at his Abuja abode, said,

" The month of April is very special".

"It is the month where Christians and Muslims' alike meet coincidentally, in similar activities by divine arrangements.

It is a very significant month where two similar remarkable spiritual activities take place simultaneously and harmoniously by the two religions.

Izunaso said,

"Mine is just to wish us well in all we do throughout this special month of April, saying that,

"I want to urge us all to remember our great country Nigeria in our Prayers, especially now that the country is undergoing another transition to the next democratically elected government; while appealing to you my fellow country men and women, to stay away from acts capable of causing ranchor, instability and a clog in the wheel of the ongoing transition process.

2023 general elections have come and gone, and ofcourse, it is very natural that after every contest, there must be winners and the aggrieved. I therefore wish to appeal to those who have objections in one way or the other, to apply maturity and the spirit of sportsmanship in their quests to present their observations through the windows of due process."

"Remember we have no other country to call our own, let's join hands together, to make our own little sacrifices, which will go a long way in uniting us and make our dear country Nigeria, great again." He concluded

Earlier in his speech, the Spokesperson of the group Alhaji Abdullahi Sanni, Mohammed said they have come to show solidarity to the Senator elect and to urge APC leadership, stakeholders and other opinion moulders to allow a candidate from the South East extraction to emerge as the next Senate President and more importantly to allow Senator Osita Izunaso to assume the position, which they said will be for the good and betterment of the country.

Other members of the group that spoke during the visit include; Barr. Mrs Lola Afolabi and Comrade Igwe Sylvester who in their different presentations eulogized Sen. Izunaso, saying they have gone far and wide and are convinced that political stability is one of the key ingredients of rapid economic growth and massive developments of any nation, emphasizing that, on the issue of the incoming government therefore, "it is not in doubt that the leadership of the 10th Assembly of the Red Chambers, requires a well groomed personality of impeccable records and character, a bridge builder, with quantum of quality experience, competence, with capacity, sagacity and above all, administrative ingenuity, a stabilizer and Political equaliser as the Senate President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, so as to as much as possible diffuse the heightened murmuring and ethno political tension currently prevailence in the polity." 

They opined that having carefully looked at all the available variances, and after due consideration and permutations, that, they are appealing to the political actors and kingmakers, to meticulously channel their binoculars to the way of Distinguished, Sen. Osita Izunaso, saying that he in all ramifications is the most qualified, with verifiable records; adding that Sen. Izunaso has paid his dues in the House of Reps, the Senate, as National Organising Secretary of the APC among other areas.

The speakers unanimously affirmed that, "For Political balance, Peaceful co-existence, anticipated national Stability and quality leadership in the coming 10th Assembly, that, Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso is the man, for SENATE PRESIDENT!" ■ END
