Preparations have reached an advanced stage for the maiden edition of the WINSEC Summit & Awards '2026 (Women in Security Summit and Awards), a national event designed to celebrate excellence, courage and commitment within Nigeria’s security and public service ecosystem.

The summit, scheduled to hold in Abuja, is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the security sector, media industry, civil society and government institutions in a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening national security architecture and advancing the inclusion of women in security-related roles.

The National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Aishatu Ibrahim, described the maiden edition as a landmark initiative designed to spotlight individuals and institutions whose service and sacrifice contribute significantly to peace, safety and national development.

Ibrahim noted that the summit goes beyond a ceremonial gathering, emphasizing that it serves as a strategic platform for dialogue, collaboration and innovative approaches to addressing contemporary security challenges in Nigeria.

According to her, preparations are currently in top gear, with less than four weeks remaining before the event, and the organizing committee remains committed to delivering a well-structured, impactful, and internationally benchmarked summit.

She further stressed that the success of the inaugural edition is critical to positioning WINSEC as a sustainable annual platform dedicated to advancing women’s participation and leadership in the security sector.

The summit is being convened in collaboration with leading media and professional bodies, underscoring its multi-sectoral outlook and commitment to transparency, professionalism and stakeholder inclusion.
